Dementia toll climbs to 35 million worldwide
In this week’s video blog, I examine one of the latest headlines. While age is the biggest driver of Alzheimer’s, some of the same factors that trigger heart disease — obesity, high cholesterol, diabetes — seem to increase the risk of dementia, too. Those are problems also on the rise in many developing countries. Does that mean that perhaps this is another one of the diseases of civilization? If so, we may know how to prevent it…..

You banned me from your forum? Wow…
Anyway interesting quote from Thebear
“Did I mention that you must never work out without sufficient days off? At least one day minimum in between workouts and the best is two to three. A proper workout micro-damages tissues, and uses up your store of energy reserves- this is what stimulates you to grow stronger/bigger. The day after a workout is used up just restoring you to the state you were in before the last workout, plus maybe part of the next day as well, if you are an advanced trainer and just increased your work load. The second day of (total) rest is when you will gain. You need only work each muscle once a week. A cycle of two and three days off is ideal in most cases. This equals twice a week in the gym. Trust me, I began at 55 and it was a hard go until I had tested all the (misinfo) and found out the truth.
I was even told that it was impossible to gain muscle mass after age 40- by an MD, no less. He did not recognise me a few years later, and was blown away by my new mass. The awful thing was, after spending a considerable amount of time first-off telling me my diet was (nuts) and I was wasting time at my age lifting, he had grown obese. Funny how the truth will out.”
What Bear is talking about is literally, high intensity training. He was even on par with once or twice a week workouts- the modern recommendation for most people.
Were you aware of this coming from Bear? He actually has quite a bit to say on exercise, and your nazi-like moderation of discussion on the subject is strange at best- and harmful at worst to those who look up to you on the forum.
You were never banned from our forum. I think it was you who announced you were through being there since you were prohibited from advancing your theories on our forum. But since you have engaged in trying to deceive us, perhaps that’s a good step to consider. I don’t have time for games and you sir, seem intent on playing them.
What you consider to be “harmful” is your own opinion and you’re entitled to it. No one on our forum was interested in your high intensity training then and I’m not particularly interested in it today.
I am aware of the Bear’s quote and you should know that I have many differences with the Bear. People like you are the reason that the Bear decided to give up his participation on internet forums so it’s ironic that you would bring him up.
I do not eat what the Bear eats nor do I share his history. He is greatly respected on our forum and blog, but he is not the final arbiter for all that is ZC. The Bear was not nor is he currently interested in helping people to gain health on ZC. He has shared HIS experiences and they remain uniquely his. Our conception of ZC is based on the shared experiences of 100s rather than the unique experiences of a few.
The biggest difference between you and I is that I don’t go to your high intensity training forums and attempt to force my views upon others. I remain within my own community and am tolerant of others who have no desire to embrace what I see as truth. Perhaps you could learn from this.
Regards,
Charles
I was for the most part done posting on your forum about exercise ( not other topics), but found that quote from bear and thought it interesting.
I logged in and was unable to post, anywhere.
Btw
“On Why Exercise Is Not for Weightloss
Our Community’s Posture on Exercise is that it is not necessary or recommended for those losing weight. Formal exercise is only recommended for those participating in a sport AFTER you’ve lost the weight. ZC may be the perfect diet for many endeavors but we will not explore them here. If you’re ZC, eat properly and go read a book! Sit on your arse and all will be well. ”
Try replacing “weight” with the word fat- it’s misleading the way that part of the forum is currently worded- not unlike the lack of a definition behind “exercise” as I pointed out not long ago.
Do you try to correct every person that you meet? If that’s so, then I feel for you. If you’re banned from our forum it’s because you’re a pain in the ass, not for anything else. Your opinion is just that, YOUR opinion. You may have a hard time believing this but not everyone will agree with you and when they don’t, you have to let it go.
My forum description is perfectly understood by those who need to understand it. As I said, the forum is not for consultants and know-it-alls. It’s for people who want to try to do things our way. It’s much like our hero Stefansson. See, you would have never been able to live and learn among the Inuit because you would have gone there trying to change the things they do in accordance with your understanding. If he did that, we would never know all the good things we’ve learned from his history. I would say the same to you that you could learn from his example. When you go to a new community, don’t try to change it. Just adapt to them and learn their ways and then you’ll be in a better position to make any judgment. You may be surprised to learn that you actually agree with them after living with them for a while.
On our forum, only experienced ZC people have any credibility. You are not a person who eats ZC, who plans to eat ZC, etc, and therefore, you’re not welcome to provide ANY advice there. That’s the way it works. If you go there advising people not being ZC, then you will be moderated and ultimately banned. I’m just warning you. To be ZC, you need to try it and do it for an appreciable amount of time and then people will be more apt to listen to anything you have to say. Until then, keep it on your own site.
