Rock-n-Roll Phoenix!
Had a great trip to the great city of Phoenix, AZ. I met a good friend of mine named Adrian and together we ran in P.F. Chang’s Rock-n-Roll half marathon on Sunday. Neither of us eat carbohydrates of any sort (in the understood sense) and we both ran in Vibram Five Fingers shoes. It wasn’t my fastest half-marathon, but I had a good run and more importantly, I had fun.
The minimal shoes worked very well. I ran in these shoes in San Antonio last November and I developed some horrible blisters on the big toe of each foot. After using google, I learned that a company called Injinji, makes socks that work with these shoes. By adding the socks, I avoided the blisters and had a nice run.
I enjoyed a “meatup” with members from the discussion forum and this was the highlight of my trip. I ate at the Brazilian Bull restaurant, which was formerly a Fogo de Chao. The meat was good but the company was even better.
After the race, Adrian and I dined at the Lonestar on I-17. They offered a good post-race ribeye and ribs which we enjoyed, unseasoned. And finally, I rejoined other friends on Sunday night and enjoyed prime rib at Flemming’s Steakhouse.
I won’t be blogging this week as I am off to New York tomorrow for the weekend. I am attending the largest meatup that we’ve ever had on our discussion forum. I hope to enjoy the sites and perhaps I’ll bring back some great pictures of that great city.
Have a great week!

Thanks for the recommendations. One correction, I found out that the Brazilian bull was actually known as Fogo E Brasa Steakhouse Churrascaria. The food at the Brazilian Bull with excellent but you should have warned me not to eat prior to going. There is so much good food to enjoy. The beef was cooked perfectly!
Glad you enjoyed it!
